Film Reviews – February 2026

So here’s a quick look back at the films we saw in February.

GOAT – this was a lot of fun. It was a light hearted take on the never give up on your dreams idea, clever use of the well known acronym for the main character, Will and good to see a sporting hero/role model portrayed as a female. Even in cartoon animal form this representation is important. I loved the little posse of hamsters and the support network that Will has in the diner and with his friends. There’s nothing ground breaking here but it was a solid 7/10.

Elvis Presley in Concert – what can I say? I’m a huge Elvis fan – this was always going to be 10/10 for me. Of course I’d seen some of the footage before but a lot of the early Vegas clips were new to me so that was a huge thrill. It blows my mind from this point in history that Elvis got so close to his audience during performances. It amazes me how he ever got back to the stage after some of the encounters and it’s hard to imagine any modern artist being allowed that kind of interaction these days. It’s hard to know if any of it made him uncomfortable or if it was just how it was back then. The soundtrack was of course phenomenal and the addition of some remixes was interesting. Check it out on Spotify.
